Refreshed Website

Updating my website has been something that I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time. When I was doing my MA, I think my website made sense to have it organised by theme as it was easier to see what works had been directly inspired by the research I’d been doing on deep sea mapping. However, whilst I still look at a lot of ocean mapping it isn’t my only influence and I’m finding that one painting often sparks an idea or a dilemma that I want to investigate in the next. I’m finding it a more fluid process rather than always going back to source map material each time to start a painting.

Equally, I’m finding that I keep moving between paintings that are heavily collaged and those which are paintings in the ‘regular’ sense and which incorporate a few collage elements. Using a huge glass table as my palette and mixing area means that I always have a lot of source material for collages and so for now I’ve categorised the paintings on my website according to technique rather than theme. I’ve always wanted the paintings to be loose enough for people to interpret them how they wish rather than being too prescriptive and so this new way of categorising paintings seems to make sense for now.
