Towns and Cities

About 20 years ago I was fortunate enough to get to fly over the Nazca lines in Peru and my fascination with viewing the world from the air started. It started a love affair with viewing the world from different perspectives and contrasting scales. Sadly, I don’t get to spend my free time flying around in aeroplanes very often but through the power of satellite imaging it is of course now possible to do that from the comfort of a chair.

It’s no great surprise then that many of my paintings take place inspiration from satellite imaging and some of the shapes and patterns in the images inevitably find their way into compositions.

The exhibition at the Open Gallery, Halifax showcases lots of works that are inspired by towns and cities and these two works are my contribution to the show.

The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 4pm. The exhibition will run from 4th November - 22nd November 2022. The Open Gallery, 18 Rawson Street, Halifax, HX1 1NH.
